hello my name is Jacob (age 21) and this season I will be racing for Wolfox Cams Le Col rt at national races in the UK and guest riding for an Irish under 23 team, u23 Velo Performance in high level under 23 and UCI races abroad in Europe. I joined my first cycling club when I was seven and ever since I have been hooked! In the year 2022 to 2023 I briefly fell out of love with the sport for seven or so months I was sick of not doing well in my races even though I was doing everything my coaches had set me in my training as well as having a bad knee injury towards the end of the year that pretty much prevented me to train as much as I wanted. I was ready to quit, I was so fed up of all my friends being better than me but after all of these years I couldn't just stop because I wasn't as good as everyone else. So I kept going and I went on to fix my knee injury and I've not had an issue since, 2024 was my best season I've ever had I joined a new team (Wolfox) it was a fresh start that I needed. That season I went on to win two races, finish third in a track omnium and got 11 top ten's. To finish the season off I went to Belgium in September and early October and raced three races which was great fun.
In the offseason leading up to the 2025 season I got a nutritionist and my main goal was to put on five to six kg, in the past I found it imposable to put weight on but we managed to get my weight up in muscle mass thanks to a change to my diet and going to the gym three times a week whilst still training 15-17 hours a week on the bike whilst having a full time job at the time. I was then fortunate enough to stay at my friends house in Spain for a four week training block riding 84 hours for the month. The 2025 season started with a really good start getting in the breaks with two out of three national B's races that I have done so far and finishing respectable places. In April I raced my first UCI 1.2 u23 in Italy which was an incredible experience for me I have been invited to do some u23 stage races in Portugal in early May and France at the end of May with Velo Performance.
I am searching for funds to allow me to continue training full time and funds to cover the costs of travel to and from these races in Europe. I truly believe that I can make something out of my self and turn professional and fulfil my dreams.
