Athletic career and achievements

A professional American track and field athlete specialising in the heptathlon, with additional success in the long jump, triple jump and pentathlon, Kiana’s career has been defined by extraordinary resilience after sustaining a life-threatening traumatic brain injury (TBI) in 2018 that temporarily ended her athletics career.

Despite years of undiagnosed neurological complications, Kiana returned to elite competition, recording 41 lifetime personal bests after her injury and qualifying for multiple US National Championships and two US Olympic Trials. She qualified for the 2021 US Olympic Trials in the triple jump and the 2024 US Olympic Trials in the long jump, while also qualifying for four US National Championships in the triple jump, one in the pentathlon and one in the heptathlon.

Following neurosurgery to repair a long-standing cerebrospinal fluid leak and treat a brain aneurysm, Kiana has returned to training with renewed health and determination. With significant improvements in her hearing, vision and balance, she is now focused on qualifying for the 2027 World Indoor and Outdoor Championships and earning a place on the 2028 Olympic team in the heptathlon.
