This Polish international wing foil athlete pursuing one of the sport’s most ambitious long-term goals: competing at the Brisbane 2032 Summer Olympics. Still only 17, she combines an intense 12-session-per-week training schedule with the academic demands of the International Baccalaureate program. Armed with relentless self-belief and an obsession with improving performance, Marianna is constantly refining her training methods, fitness and equipment setup in pursuit of world-level results. Despite limited support and financial barriers, she continues to push toward the top level of the sport with the goal of becoming a future podium contender internationally.
Athletic Career and Achievements
Already a name to watch by virtue of her results at previous international championships, this year Marianna has her eyes set on the podium at the Youth World Championship. Building on her youth career, next year she will enter the senior competition field where her ambitions are set on the podium at the World and European Championships.
Long-term, Sobczak’s primary goal is to represent Poland in wing foiling at the Brisbane 2032 Olympic Games, a sport that combines elements of windsurfing and kitesurfing.
Recent results:
Formula Wing Youth World Championships: 9th
Poland Youth National Cup: 4th
Coaching & Community: Beyond racing, she serves as an instructor for the Polish Wing Sports Association (PSWing), helping to develop the sport’s disciplines like Wing Surf and Wing Skate.
Marianna trains across multiple environments including swimming, gym-based strength and endurance work, running and on-water sailing sessions.
She is supported by a small but committed group of coaches and supporters who continue to help drive her progression, while remaining highly self-motivated in her daily training and performance development.
Sport Background: While she is currently a “wing foil” specialist, her roots are often linked to the broader Polish windsurfing community (Windsurfing Team Polska), as well as pool swimming by virtue of her competitive club swimming days. Her swimming background remains a key part of her conditioning and resilience training.
Her daily schedule often begins at 5am with swim training before school, followed by gym sessions, running or extended on-water training depending on wind conditions and seasonality.
Equipment: As an emerging athlete in a highly equipment-dependent sport, access to competitive wing foil equipment and setup optimisation remains an important part of Marianna’s progression. She is passionate about testing, refining and improving equipment performance and is open to product partnerships, testing collaborations and technical feedback opportunities.
Association: She is an active part of the Polskie Stowarzyszenie Wing (PSWing), which manages the Polish Cup and national rankings.
Challenges and Opportunity
Marianna currently faces ongoing challenges around financial support, equipment access and broader sponsorship backing as she progresses internationally in an expensive and rapidly evolving sport.
However, wing foiling sits within the same modern, youth-driven action sports culture that has helped sports like skateboarding and surfing join the Summer Olympics movement.
Marianna’s audience naturally overlaps with sailing, surf, skate and broader outdoor performance communities, creating strong alignment for brands looking to connect authentically with engaged, community-led and culturally relevant sports audiences.
For partners, this creates the opportunity to support an athlete at an early stage of what could become a significant international career, while also aligning with the growing momentum around next-generation Olympic and action sports culture.
